Our week in review

We went for a trot through the garden. Chandler and Oscar seem to really enjoy it. I was very disturbed as my tomatoes are once again getting blossom bottom rot, which I have found to be ok to cut off if you catch it soon enough, but otherwise they get all moldy....less watering next year I guess...

I also decided this week to make home made cream cheese (from yogurt - which I also made myself) for an upcoming food project. To be continued on that one...

Here it is in process:

Channie is enjoying using the baby's things (AKA dressing up in bows - now she really looks like a girl - and she was very interested in reading about dogs and how she might better get along with them...

Week 29:

I decided to practice my story telling skills to some eager listeners:

Just hanging out:

This week we are still waiting for Clint to get home from Kuwait again. Hopefully this is his last trip out there. We are looking forward to getting to spend this fall together as summer has be awash once again. Not sure why it seems like all the projects have to be during the warm fun months....We're even planning a pre-baby vacation to Montreal over Labor Day weekend (someplace not too far was my only stipulation...not interested in the long plane flights these days). I also had my OB appointment where I was pleased to hear that I had only gained 2# since the last visit:) and that I was her skinny patient of the day...not generally something you hear when you weigh this much....maybe she was just trying to make me happy:) So far baby Herrick continues to keep her head down in my lower right side and kick me under my ribs on the left. I enjoy that a lot since its just confirmation to me that she knows what she is doing and wants to come out the right way. Everything else has been going great, except for the sleeping, and I feel bad for Clint when he comes home. I have been taking up the entire bed without him here, and I think it's going to be worse than when Oscar sleeps with us (which there is no way he is going to be able to do anymore with my rolling around). I still look forward to the day when I can lay on my back or stomach comfortably again. I also had to call grandma Ogi over to help with the baby clothes crisis over the weekend as I had gotten 3 bins from a girl at work, and didn't know what or how much to choose. Lets just say we're more than likely set till she's a year old (unless she fits into 18months by then...she might be a big girl, who knows). I think she will be much more fashionable than me anyways. So that is all for now. More next week (or the week after...I better go and make sure I can find my passport. I tend to lose them and that would not be good....

I think I had some colostrum come out

Here I am getting fatter - week 28 - seems like she sits kinda low:

He was cute in his swing, but he likes to lean forward:

Eli camme to my shower - here he is with aunt Borb:

The weeks are flying by right now. I have read up to week 30 in my book (mostly to see how big she is and to see hw close my baby pouch is to my ribs....This week I discovered that it was definately her feet under my ribs...it kinda tickles right now, but I have a feeling that won't be the case later on. I've found out that this is a good thing as she is standing on her head then (hypnobirthing class taught me how to turn her that way and keep her that way later on). I also learned that crappy posture can lead to posterior babies (not fun and leads to long non-progressing labors with mechanical failures (as I put it), which we are trying to avoid. When Clint gets home, we can all start practicing the relaxing stuff as a family. So far it's been pretty effective for me (and I think for her too - she gets all happy and active). I think working where I do now has given me insight to definately know what I want, and to gain knowledge of what is best for babies and families...luckily I'm not the only one there that has more holistic views...one of the nurses I work with used to be a Bradley instructor, and another one left her job in Green Bay because their C-Section rate was so high, and thought it seemed as though none of her co-workers really knew what to do with a laboring patient (who didn't want interventions). I still get nervous sometimes as I think I have come to know a lot of what-ifs, but at the same time, I've realized that a lot of these are from intervening when it's not necessary. At this point, I'm excited for that day when she decides to come and meet us. As much as I knew I'd like the pregnancy thing, I'm so much more excited for what comes next (Oscar and Chandler are too I'm sure - they just don't know it yet).

Also this week I had my Ogi/Nigh family shower at my parent's house. It was really fun to see everyone since I haven't gotten to go to any Nigh parties in a really long time, and Ogi get-togethers haven't been as frequent as they once were. It was great having Abbie and Annah help me open presents too (fun for them, and then everyone doesn't have to look at me the whole time). Eli and Isla also stole some spotlight too which I was thankful for:)

Furthermore, this week I have come to the realization that Oscar doesn't sniggle so close to me in the morning because he loves me, it is a tactic that ensures that he knows the second I move or get up, so he can run out and demand his breakfast....I only give him intelligence props where it comes to finding effectice ways to get food....

Week 27. Baby likes fish eggs.

The Henna Party:

Clint and the Pillows for the Hindu Ceremony:

Walking the Beauty in:

The Happy Couples:

The Essen House was Fun:

THIS NEVER HAPPENS!!!

The Beauty and the Beer + Henna and Flowers

Every occasion calls for jumping (I think I might have peed):

There was much excitment this week as we all headed down to Madison for our first Hindu wedding ceremony. Nicki and Sumair are now one (especially if it is past day 4of the honeymoon), and are busy sunning themselves and surfing in Hawaii...It was a really fun weekend, and I was amazed at how much energy I had (each night got later and I think it was 3AM when we got back to the hotel Saturday night). I also have to say, also, that I enjoyed Friday night at the Essen House after the Hindu ceremony. I was glad not to be drinking the boot....it looked painful.... If baby herrick didn't like dancing before, she does now. I think I put her to sleep with the endless hopping around (I guess that's what you could call my dancing). With the help of a great band and some Indian music during their breaks, we were up dancing the whole night (Clint even joined us a bunch). We finally got to meet Mary's BF and I have to say, he's just as weird (in a good way) as I could have hoped. Getting to finally visit (have lunch) wiht Kaitlyn was an added bonus, and Clint satisfied his hummus craving). Clint was home for this week too, and we celebrated his 28th birthday (maybe a little late - Friday was our only day off and he left again on Saturday), so we did some mini golfing (IT WAS A TIE!!! - And I got a hole in one on the first hole), shopping, and Nakashima's....we will take any excuse to celebrate with sushi:):) I wish there was another special occasion coming up just for that purpose....I have a newfound love for Salmon Roe....

Produce and Fetal Development

I found it interesting that of all the produce out there that my baby could be compared to, this week it is an English Hothouse Cucumber....I've never even heard of those...

Week 26 (chandler and Oscar await the baby by trying on her clothes)

Week 26, She's practice breathing and listening to all the sounds (which mostly consist of dogs barking lately). It was an eventful weekend of visiting my parents since Kaitlyn was home to visit, and supper on Saturday night at the future Grandma and Grandpa Herrick's house (there had been a yummy garden harvest earlier that we had to partake in). We also got to pick out some material for Grandma Ogi to make a crib skirt and blanket out of (Clint's only request is for a rabbit to be on it) as well as some paint for the room. I wish I didn't have to wait to paint it, but I don't seem to tolerate the fumes when I don't have someone growing inside me, so it's probably not such a good idea right now either...Lots of projects building up for the future dad (more reason for him to not have to travel so much we hope:)Tonight we (baby herrick and I) get to start our Hypnobirthing class at the Birth Center in Appleton. At least we know it should be a relaxing evening! I will have catch Clint up for when he is home (Thursday morning, Yay)! He even gets to come to the class next week, which I am ever grateful for. I can't wait to show him the developments and how tight even some of my maternity clothes are (these black capris should have a looser waistband)...
